"Alias" Writers Say a Revival Could Happen: "We've Even Talked With JJ Abrams"

Hold on to your wigs – Alias could be coming back to screens.

Rumours of a revival for the series, which ran from 2001 to 2006 and followed international spy Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner), were sparked following a Q&A with the Alias writers' room at the ATX Festival in June.

During the event, the show's co-executive producer Josh Appelbaum addressed speculation of a revival head on (via Entertainment Weekly).

He revealed that writers have been in talks with the show's original creator JJ Abrams, so make of that what you will.

"It would be amazing to do it," said Appelbaum. "We've even talked with JJ."

However, don't go digging out your old Alias cosplay outfits just yet, as Appelbaum noted that there would be one condition for bringing the series back to screens.

"The right idea would have to come," he added.

"We wouldn't want to do it unless it was absolutely perfect."

The original Alias series ended with Sydney's daughter Isabelle exhibiting similar abilities to the ones that first marked Sydney as a candidate for the CIA in her youth.

Naturally, fans have pitched this as a great idea for the revival, but will it happen? We sure hope so.
